There's good news that sees Jordan Jenkins and Alex Spooner able to take their places back in Kent TouchTec Kings declared 1-7 and therefore eligible to ride in Monday's final regular National League [NL] match of the season on Monday.
Spooner had been out with that troublesome shoulder injury and an 'injury cover' replacement had seen the dependable Jacob Clouting taking his place at reserve in recent NL matches. Having proved his fitness in the challenge match against the GB Young Lions, the 19 year old from Essex Spooner is ready to resume in the final 'qualifying' fixture and (short of an unlikely sequence of results involving rivals around them in the top half of the NL table) the Play Off semi finals and then hopefully Final to come.
For those Play Offs, the other injury cover arrangement will be able to be changed, provided club skipper Rob Ledwith is fit - he would be able to return from 14 days after the change on 31st.August which saw the experienced David Wallinger drafted in to do a job - which, indeed, involves covering the captaincy role.
And the club received the news they were hoping against hope to hear, that the Speedway Control Bureau Board of Directors had re-visited the issue of Jordan Jenkins (who changed his hasty decision previously to take a break and been subject to a racing ban) and he is now cleared to ride on.
The Board announced on Thursday that they had "re-evaluated Jenkins' position and agreed that SCB Article 19.7.2 should also apply to Jordan, permitting him to ride for Kent with immediate effect.". The popular teenager will therefore be able to ride against Cradley up at Wolverhampton on Monday (9/9) and indeed will get back in the swing of things before that, having accepted a 'Guest' booking the day before for his former club, Mildenhall.
Kent co-promoter Len Silver commented. "It's great news that the BSPA have re-considered the position with Jordan and have given him permission to resume racing with immediate effect. Justice ruled in the end, so well done, BSPA. Rob will be allowed back in the side on September 14th, so well in time for the Play-Offs. Chris [Hunt] has heaved a great sigh of relief; and so have I!"
